Safety Manager

Job description

A global industrial manufacturing company is looking to appoint a Regional Health and Safety Manager to oversee multiple operations for one of their Business Units (BUs) across Eastern Ontario. Leading a small team of Health and Safety Coordinators, the Manager will work with stakeholders at various levels of the business, requiring a ‘hands-on’ approach and the ability to influence, engage and build relationships. A leadership position within the Business Unit the individual will be tasked with implementing and developing H&S Management Systems and strengthening H&S competencies.

 

The Role:

  • Design, develop, and implement safety programs and procedures for multiple regions
  • Provide H&S support and expertise to site management to help drive H&S performance.
  • Implement long-term H&S strategy and promote a proactive, behavior-based approach to Safety.
  • Support all locations in ensuring compliance with local and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Coach and mentor Safety personnel with their team

 

The Candidate:

  • 8+ years in a Health and Safety or related role
  • Previous experience with managing director reports
  • EHS experience within an industrial environment, such as heavy manufacturing or construction
  • Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, IH, Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage others.
  • Hands-on approach to safety
  • Able to work in a field role and travel within Eastern Ontario as required
